The situations that come up most
Turning 65, or new to Medicare
There is a window around your 65th birthday where your choices matter and the mail gets loud. Deborah will explain the parts of Medicare in plain English and what the deadlines mean for you.
Medicare Advantage
Advantage plans bundle things together but the networks and the co-pays vary a lot plan to plan. She will go through how your own doctors and prescriptions fit into the plans available where you live.
Original Medicare with a supplement
If you want to keep Medicare itself and add a Medigap policy plus drug coverage, she can walk through what that combination looks like and what it typically costs.
Prescriptions and drug coverage
Part D and the drug coverage inside Advantage plans are where people get surprised. Bring your medicine list and she will help you check how it is handled.
Your doctors and hospitals
The plan is only as good as whether the people treating you take it. Have the names handy and that gets checked first, not last.
You are helping a parent
A lot of calls come from a son or daughter sorting this out for a parent. That is fine — just make sure the person on the plan is available to give permission when the time comes.
